Background

OR52D1 is an olfactory receptor belonging to the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily, primarily involved in odorant detection. Although mainly expressed in olfactory sensory neurons, emerging evidence suggests ectopic expression in non-olfactory tissues, where it may participate in cell migration, proliferation, and tumor biology. Its functional diversity warrants further investigation.
