ACROBiosystems Inc. sponsored ACRO Awards in the 12th Annual Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Symposium (PSRS) on Mar. 20th. The PSRS is an annual event co-founded by the AAPS chapters at the University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne University, and West Virginia University. In the past 11 years, PSRS has provided students with great opportunities to present their recent work, communicate with peers and senior colleagues, and build their network. The ACRO Award will help the students with early career development, aiding young pharmaceutical professionals in multidisciplinary research.

This year, the 12th PSRS moved to virtual platforms due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it still attracted over one-hundred people to participate, including faculty, graduate and Pharm.D. students from over five universities, and guests from the pharmaceutical industries.

Over 40 students / post-doctoral trainees presented at the 12th PSRS. The students submitted the video of the speech, and the experts scored it according to the novelty of the speech content, the accuracy of the research methods, the importance of the research results and the speech style. And all the first-place poster winners received the ACRO Awards among four different graduate divisions, including Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Medicinal Chemistry,Pharmaceutical Outcome and Policy Research, and one for Pharm.D. and Undergraduate Students.

“We sincerely thank ACROBiosystems, Inc. for their continuous support,” said Dr. Venkat, the faculty advisor of the Pitt-Pharmacy AAPS Student Chapter, on the opening remarks, “The Awards really attract students to participate in this symposium.” Oliver Tong, the Chair of the 12th PSRS Committee also expressed his appreciation in the acknowledgments, “Without the support from ACROBiosystems, we wouldn’t have such a successful symposium. Thanks for your trust and collaboration. The ACRO Award will inspire these young pharmaceutical scientists and make them more devoted to the edge-cutting research.”
